The Dead Sea Poems was a commission by Wakefield Lit Fest to create a soundtrack to the poetry collection of the same name, written by Poet Laureate Simon Armitage. The performance consisted of a 60 minute show featuring especially written music by Dean Freeman with support from Dan Hayes and Harry Rhodes and a cast of spoken word / artists performing the poems to the music. Accompanying videos were also filmed and projected behind the performance, which took place in Mechanics Theatre, Wakefield.
The show sold out and incredibly well received. Unfortunately we could not gain the rights to perform it again. The music written for the show was developed over the next year and became the original project The Dead Scene Poems. Live recording available on request.
Christmas Soundscapes were created for National Trust property Nostell Priory from 2017-2019. These pieces mixed newly composed music with reinterpretations of Christmas standards, foley from the house and vox pops. They were built around themes of exhibitions taking place in the house, such as sampling the clocks from the “ClockWork” exhibition featuring the work of John Harrison.
